Clearing body and mind through challenge
THE LEVEL UP LETTER
Hi All!
Here is your weekly Level Up Letter, a collection of what we're musing on, experimenting with or have found through the BBM community. This week we’re talking about Misogi. Feel free to forward along if your heart desires.
QUOTE OF THE WEEK

MISOGI
Misogi (禊) is a Japanese Shinto practice of ritual purification by washing the entire body. The samurai used it to build mental clarity and gain a deeper understanding of themselves by pushing their limits. Every year, many people take pilgrimages to sacred waterfalls, lakes and rivers, either alone or in small groups, to perform misogi. Each region or culture has its own ritual with it. Some fast, use prayer, do calisthenics etc. but all have the same goal. To do a yearly cleanse that pushes their own limits. |
A TWIST
Jesse Itzler has made Misogi popular in the US but he’s given it a bit of a twist. Instead of the water purification ritual, a Misogi is one big "year defining" event… something so hard you might not complete it… and it's different for EVERYONE (for some people that could be a 5k race and for others a 200 mile run). When it’s over, and you’ve made it through, it should feel like your soul has been cleansed.

PUT IT ON YOUR CALENDAR
Our challenge to you is to decide your Misogi (for 2024 or 2025) and put it on the calendar. No excuses. What would push your limits of possible? What’s something that would fill your soul knowing you did it?
We’d love to hear your ideas! Send them to us at [email protected]
Who knows, maybe we’ll join you!
