QUOTE OF THE WEEK

THE SHORTCUT TO GETTING EVERYTHING YOU WANT

⁣Looking for the shortcut to making more money? Getting those 6 pack abs? Living a life of zen? Well here’s the shortcut…..

Accept the reality that there are no shortcuts.

Sure there are systems you can use to make things a little easier (that’s why we teach OKRs and have accountability groups) but you still have to do the work. There’s no avoiding it.

If you want to make more money you need to educate yourself on finances, setup the accounts, monitor the investments or learn the real estate market, make offers and manage tenants.

If you want those abs you have to hit the gym and get your nutrition in check. Nobody can do your push-ups for you.

The actual shortcut is acceptance. The sooner you understand it, and commit to taking action, the sooner you’ll get to the destination and everyone will start asking you “what’s your secret?”

SEVEN LESSONS FROM THE STOICS

After understanding that there are no shortcuts we thought these lessons from the stoics would help to regather your focus. (Thanks to Daily Stoic)

1. Focus on what you can control

2. Don’t suffer imagined troubles

3. Make a little progress each day

4. Study the lives of the greats

5. Define what success means to you

6. Courage. Temperance. Justice. Wisdom. (Always)

7. Memento mori (Remember you must die)

THE FIVE MINUTE TIMER

Getting started on any project or task can be daunting and in this day and age it’s easy to get distracted. We’ve been playing with this 5 minute timer and it’s been a great way to get into flow on a task. Flip it over and commit to pure focus for 5 minutes. It helps break through the procrastination, reduces the anxiety of a large project and most of the time the 5 minutes goes by in a flash.

Sometimes you’ll realize you’ve spent an entire hour on a project and have it finished. We like having the hour glass instead of a phone timer because it doesn’t chime when time is up and you can put your phone away to reduce the distractions.

If you get one, let us know if it helped you.
